Oxford glows
I needed to go shopping for a son's birthday. After procrastinating all day, I finally got into Oxford around 4.30.
It's been a glorious day and, fingers crossed, we've got a couple more to come. I do so hope it stays fine for the Olympic opening ceremony on Friday.
Oxford is very, very busy in summer. Despite all the early evening hustle and bustle it looked charming and positively glowed in the sunlight. This was Broad Street just before 6pm. On the left is part of Balliol College. In the centre background you can see the curved walls of the Sheldonian and its distinctive white and green copper tower. Slightly further forward, on the right hand rooftop of Blackwell's Art and Poster shop, you can see the Iron Man - Antony Gormley's nude sculpture.
I'm mystified as to why almost everyone in the foreground is wearing red and pink!
