Under the Bridge
The old cornmill here has been converted into a micro-brewery. The barley for the beer is grown in the fields around, and the water comes from a bore-hole on site. I'm not a beer buff, but experts tell me it is very good. It is aptly called 'Born in the Borders.'
Downstream there are three or four planks across the burn and nets, jars and identification sheets are supplied so children can guddle to their hearts' content. The water is very shallow.
Cross over and a gentle grass path follows the bank of the River Teviot, where kingfishers and otters are seen (but not by me, yet).
We wandered along there this afternoon. We set off in sunshine but the sky had dulled by the time we turned back (see extra). We got home dry, and the troll didn't catch us.
