Graffiti Art
I spent an hour with a genius yesterday trying to figure out why the email on my phone shut down. I always assume that these problems are caused by me, but apparently it was a problem with the server, because I was eventually I was able to get it back by logging on in the usual manner. Coming in conjunction with my efforts to learn a new computer system, this was almost one setback too many, but if I've learned one thing, it's when to walk away and do something else for awhile. In fact, it's a lesson which I find applies to most of life's endeavors. Not that all of them magically fix themselves overnight, but they rarely get worse....
I just finished reading Suite Francaise which finally made it to the top of the pile by my bed after two or three years. It is a beautifully written story of war from a civilian's point of view, with wonderful characters, evocative descriptions and no battle scenes. Sadly, the author, Irene Nemirovsky, was sent to a Nazi death camp before she was able to complete the suite. Reading with hindsight, it's hard to imagine how she was able to write with such wit, irony and, dare I say, sweetness .
I continue to muse about what constitutes art so I am following my latte art blip of yesterday with today's offering. The amazing thing about it is that it is painted on the side of a very large water tank which is completely surrounded by a locked fence topped with barbed wire . Getting in there to complete such a large work must have taken considerable ingenuity and determination. I do hope all the passing hikers and their dogs appreciate it.
