From Kirkwall to Birsay....A Brilliant Blipmeet...
This morning we headed into Kirkwall for a Blipmeet...pretty exciting especially as I don't get to have many.
I love the way when Blippers get together its like a bunch of old friends just carrying on where they left off...if you get my drift.
It was a rather illustrious bunch of usual suspects......and folk who's journals I am familiar with even though not following....yet.
OK so left to right in the pic.....Mr Houseonahill6 (not a blipper)......Houseonahill6........Happyvalley.....Porridge...Herself Freespiral......Himself....... and Sleepyhead. (extra)
I have put names in bold...sorry about not linking......I am a bit challenged in this area....(and a bit lazy)...although to be fair...I have managed with Sleepyheads link for a couple of days now.
Anyway folk if you get to read this....it was a blast...I loved it..you are all just fabulous.
We all watched and experienced the excitement of watching the rehearsal for the Commemoration of the Centennial of the Battle of Jutland.....poppies (from Tower of London) dripping down the walls.....blokes playing bagpipes...... the Royal Marine band did a pretty good job I reckon.........then there was the Royal Navy....who I thought were going to break into a River Dance (as Freespiral pointed out wrong country) when their legs started to move up and down taking little steps to the side.
After all of that we said our goodbyes and did a bit of gift shopping...(I would of loved to of bought Flynn a little kilt but I don't think he would wear it)....had a bite to eat in a pub and had to head back to our cottage so I could pick up my spare batteries...which I forgot in all the excitement trying to leave the house this morning...not to mention looking everywhere for my phone which I left in the car....DUH!
It was getting on by the time we were ready to leave the house again...too late to go to the Cairns so we headed down to the Brough of Birsay .......Peter went down by the water and I decided to take a walk along the headland (extras). I have to say it was really lovely just ambling along by myself taking pics......not being anywhere special.....not having to be anywhere. I took pics of cows.... weeds...gravestones....The Earls Castle/ruins.......the lovely coastline......the weeds growing along the side of the road....the sheep in the fields.
As you can see with all my extras it was hard to choose...I don't care that I use up all my extras on this holiday...its so much easier at home to just put up one blip a day. I do like to put pics up of things that have touched me during the day....and it seems to be A LOT since being here on this side of the world.
Walking along the cliff top looking out to the ocean and the grey clouds I felt as if I had come back to myself.....the little house that I have featured today is called Zanzibar....somehow so incongruous with the surroundings....I love it........it really was such a brilliant day all round.
Oh yes Sleepyheads view of the day is as usual in mono and rather elegant.
