Improving!!

We were faced with THIS for a front garden when we moved in, but with some effort it now is looking more colourful !!!
 
Most of the plants were cuttings from the old garden. The garden has never been dug over, the builders must have just levelled it, put membrane in some places and covered it in slate. There are concrete inspection covers along the roadside edge.
 
Understandably I wasn’t prepared to spend a fortune on an area so inhospitable to plants. So it’s a case of finding plants that are tough  !!!
