Choctaw
Maybe it was being in the Sculpture Factory earlier in the week, where it was made last year, but we finally got around to heading down to Midleton in East Cork today to look at this sculpture. Made by Alex Pentek, a school-friend of Z's, it's a tribute to the gift made by the Choctaw Indian tribe to the Irish people in our famine in the years around 1847, when a million died and another million emigrated. The Choctaw Nation gave $147 (tens of thousands today) to help. Damien Dempsey also did a fine song on the same subject.
The extra is J. On the way home we came across him heading out to the disco later (he says). He extracted some money and headed off, that what teens are for I guess. A few more from today.
