confused?
We’re walking down Watford High Street this morning and we spy a group of men ahead wearing white tee-shirts with red and blue lettering. They turn out to be canvassing for one of the groups in the forth-coming EU referendum. We decline their leaflets as we’ve already made up our minds.
A few yards further on another man in a white tee-shirt with red and blue lettering asks me why I’ve already made up my mind. He seems pleasant enough so I tell him and it’s only after I’ve been banging on for a few minutes that I notice him go very quiet and as my eyes drift down his tee-shirt I spot one word which shows he represents the opposite camp.
We agree to differ and part amicably. Anniemay is having a quiet chuckle “when did you realise…?
A bit further on there’s another group - same white tee-shirts with red and blue lettering - but when I look closer, some have ‘Leave’ and others have ‘Remain’ written on their chests. And that’s the problem with this referendum; one group of men in suits arguing with another group of men in suits. They all look the same. There are no facts - just one set of opinions versus another set of opinions.
We distrust and dislike both sides - but we’ve made up our minds because we distrust and dislike one lot marginally less than the other.
In case you’re wondering - the photo shows the seating arrangements at an Italian ice cream stall.
