Grand Staircases

Met up with ex-colleague Lucky Lucy Mountain this morning. She is getting married and asked me to help her compile a CD of music to play during dinner and after the band finish.

We decided to meet at a Starbucks near the old office, except that as it is Ramadan, you cant sit in and drink a coffee... so, we ventured into the hotel (Movenpick Bur Dubai) to their pub to have a cup of coffee and sort out the music.

I have always loved this staircase and the atrium of this hotel. It use to have a lovely red carpet but that got changed about a year ago. An aside: The ballroom of this hotel is made especially for weddings. My dad (who use to be a wedding photographer) once told me that they have a stage from which the bride and groom are "lifted" into the Reception room i.e. they appear out of the floor (like in the last song of The Jersey Boys show). So cool and over the top too, but then, this is DUBAI!

Got some lilies for my assistance. Then went on to help G with her stock count. Last day tomorrow. And after I post this and G finishes her swim, we're going in to Dubai Mall to see the fountain and look at some gadgets! [Having withdrawal symptoms!!!] So long...
