Fawn Friday

This little sweetie is at The Wildlife Center. It's entirely possible that the poor thing was kidnapped by some well meaning citizen who doesn't realize that Mama deer leave their fawns sleeping in the grass with instructions to stay put, and then go off themselves to graze all day - and come back later to nurse. Then again, it could be a genuine orphan. Hard to say, but in any case it is about the smallest fawn I've ever seen and I was glad to have the opportunity to see it. The vet was drawing blood for tests to make sure it's healthy and just needs raising but not doctoring. Assuming all goes well, it and all the others that appear at the Center this Spring/Summer will be released in September.
