So Much Beauty
Used our colleague's car to go pick up his daughter from her nursing placement in Estremoz, a town towards the Spanish border, that has been involved in a lot of battles over the centuries, and is famous for being the favourite residence of Isabel, the Saint Queen of Portugal. The town is surrounded by marble quarries, and most of it seems to be made of marble, but I found it hard to capture - maybe because the light was so dull - yet another cool, drizzly day.
Definitely fun to get out of Mora, though, and the countryside was stunning - the grape vines are in glorious green leaf, often with red roses at the end of the rows, or banks of poppies, interspersed with yellow or purple flowers. Plus good to be able to shop in a bigger place - have made a Liberian chicken, sweet potato, and peanut butter stew for get together tomorrow.
