Lychnis flos-cuculi
Weigh in today was closer to my stable weight that the previous two days. Getting my 7-day mean to stay put is harder than trying to lose weight! Cycled to work today, against a strong head wind and didn't arrive all that quickly. Work was mostly very good, I've almost completed the code I've been working on this week, well enough to let other people look at it anyway!
Would have cycled home soon enough but I had a very flat rear tyre... The tyres on my hybrid are cheap Continental City Ride 37-622 jobs that came with the bike, quick (low rolling resistance) but not very puncture resistant. On the third-world quality roads we have in Hampshire that's not such a good idea. They are starting to show side wall wear, but more importantly there now is a sizeable whole/tear in one of them on the main surface that touches the road... I put a patch on the inner tube and another one one the inside of the tyre and cycled home.
This evening I've ordered a more expensive Continental tyre that should be as fast but a lot more puncture resistant than the current ones. Good tyres may seem expensive, but when you compare them to good car tyres they are a bargain!
Today's blip is rather ragged robin, of the floral variety not the feathered kind. It's a red ragged-robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi) from our wildflower garden. So far the red campion are in full bloom, a few butter-cups are now up and so is the mostly red ragged-robin. We have a few white forms, which are nice, but so far no sign of the white campion which previously came up with the red campion.
