Pictures at an exhibition
Today was London. Met jinglyjan at Waterloo and we walked across the river and up to Somerset House and the Courtauld Gallery in the Strand. First we had a sunny and extended coffee in the courtyard.
After which we went in to see the temp exhibition that rather embarrassingly had finished on 15th. But if you've ever been there you will know what an iconic permanent collection of paintings and prints they have, from Manet through Cezanne, Seurat, Picasso to Jasper Johns and everyone inbetween. All the signature pictures you know are just there. In cool high-ceilinged galleries, empty of crowds. It was totally knock-out. And (almost the best thing is) you're allowed to blip.
So we did. And this is one of them. I liked it because the light was so wonderful that (call me pretentious if you like, it's probably true) these 2 people studying at the stuff almost looked like they were in a painting themselves.
After which we walked up to the edge of Covent Garden and had lunch in a nice Italian place and didn't leave til near 5 o'clock we were talking so much. What a fab day - thank you Jan.
Oh, and there is a blip of Jan in Extras - sorry you can't see her face, once again I just liked the painterly light..
Hope you all had a good Friday too. Long weekend for some of us - what fun xx
