FLOWER FRIDAY
As we both have an appointment with the optician this afternoon, Mr. HCB wanted to be up early to get his beans planted and lots of other jobs done in the garden - so got up early yet again, leaving me in bed. It wasn’t long before I was up though and out and about in the garden - and in my pink robe! There is something special about walking round your garden before the sun is high in the sky.
In my extra photograph yesterday, Mr. HCB was hoeing the new strawberry bed that he made last year from our old strawberry runners and later in the day he put the straw all round, so that the fruits won’t touch the soil. He says he is amazed that they are all flowering so well - must be his green fingers! Can’t wait to sit in the garden and enjoy strawberries and cream!
So, the strawberries are strawed, the blueberry cage is netted, the dwarf, runner beans and peas are planted, the tomatoes in the greenhouse are looking healthy and at 9.45 it’s almost time for the second cup of coffee if I can get Mr. HCB to stop!
Have a wonderful Friday and a great long weekend - and may the sun shine on you wherever you are.
“A garden is a grand teacher.
It teaches patience and
careful watchfulness;
it teaches industry and thrift;
above all,
it teaches entire trust.”
Gertrude Jekyll - Horticulturist
P.S. Could the "twist" be that I threw lots of snails over the fence?
