Nelson Harbour
Today we had to go to Nelson, so left as soon as we dropped the boys off at school.
On the way we came across a stolen get away Toyota Hilux Ute, going at high speeds on the State Highway along with 7 Police/Traffic control cars (between the Gowan and Korere), with flashing lights and sirens chasing him. Apprently there were 3 young men who had stolen a car in Motueka, filled it up with petrol and left without paying for it. They crashed the car in a ditch, fled on foot, stole another vehicle from a rural property (the Hilux ute), and set out trying to get away from the Police. The Police laid road spikes to try and stop them, however, they carried on with two flat tyres, and ended up the Matiri Valley on the outskirts of Murchison. Last we heard, the Officers where on foot chasing them through bush. We may be a small town, but we often seem to be the centre of attention when it comes to people trying to get away from the Traffic/Police authorities. Not something you want to happen in your town every day though!
Apart from that wee bit of excitement, we had an uneventful day. On the way into Nelson, we stopped around the Port, and I took this photo. The bit of land you can see is the Bolder Bank (it has a lighthouse on it). Beyond that is the sea again, although you can't see that in my picture. I love the different formations in the clouds - I thought they looked rather different.
