Statuesque
Dover - Shetland Day 7
Lowestoft (rest day)
Highlight: haircut & sports massage.
Lowlight: sore left Achilles' tendon, even nippier after the massage. Don't think it will affect the cycling though, just a bit of a hobble when off the bike.
What else? With a day off the bike, I realise it hasn't been mentioned yet - mainly because it has been so well behaved (hope that is not tempting fate). It is a Kona Rove " "gravel bike" with an aluminium frame. Road style bike with drop handle bars, double brakes, narrow but slightly treaded tubed tyres and a more robust frame capable of carrying panniers. It is nicknamed the 'BOM' (burnt orange machine) and is ideal for touring, fast on Tarmac but also able to tackle surprisingly rough terrain, down off road lanes and old railway lines etc. Crossing my fingers its good performance continues all the way north.
Photo: came across this mime artist whilst wandering down Lowestoft High Street. Very impressive too, as he really resembled a statue when stationary.
