Sapphire Fossicking
Following our overnight stay in Inverell on our trip back to Narrabri, we took a drive out to Frazers Creek to try our hands at fossicking, which involves the washing of clay deposits through sieves in tanks of water, whereafter one works through the remaining stones, consisting of agates, zircon etc in the hope of finding some worthwhile sapphires. It was great few hours of muddy fun, and we had the pleasure of finding chips of blue and red sapphires among the cleaned stone. Nothing of any value, but non- the- less a good fun experience before climbing in the car for the final stretch home to the farm in Narrabri.
