View from the overnight stop

A bright morning with only a little cloud hanging over the mountain. The water was clear and shallow, no ripples to cloud the view of the seabed. We set off before 9.00 and meandered around the road, partly looking for goats and elks on the mountains, neither to be seen. The area is stunning! We have now arrived in Svolvaer hub of the Lofoten isles, it is sunny and warm sat in the van as we decide what to do, no doubt the tourist information point and then a cafe type place.

The collage: dried fish hanging outside a house, a common sight in ten last two days and a practice of the locals for hundreds of years. We have yet to see fresh or dried fish for sale, may find some today, Svolvaer is a fishing town.

We found the tourist info and asked about wild goats, I'm not sure she understood but there are two goat farms nearby making cheese. Also asked about bee hives, we haven't seen any, yes there is one place near by, and then enquired about snakes in Norway, apparently none. Some of the moorland looks very like Scotland where we have adders. The next question was about a laundrette, ahh yes there is one but it's closed due to vandalism.

The town is pleasant, a mixture of fish processing on an industrial scake and tourism. As to buying fish, we can buy local fish in th Coop extra, this next to us as we madly catch up on wifi in a shopping centre.
