Baby coot

After several grey wet days, we were blessed with sunshine today. I decided to get out for my walk after breakfast, in case it didn't last! I walked to the lake in Samoreau to check on the grebe nest. No changes there, but today I spotted a coot's nest just a little further along the grasses at the water's edge, with four chicks. Then, walking back on the other side, I could see a swan family with six cygnets snoozing on the far shore. I almost took my binoculars with me, but in the end I didn't - next time!
