Prickly beauty

The tiny pyracantha flowers are very pretty when looked at closely. But you have to be careful not to get too close because pyracantha has fearsome thorns, as N knows only too well from many years of pruning. The bush grows close to the wall of the house, reaches right up to the eaves and has a one foot diameter trunk so I guess it is a great age. In the Autumn the orange berries are a feast for the birds.
