I stayed after school today to talk to Alex's teacher and was able to capture this picture of them for an end-of-the-year gift he is working on.  A little over a month ago, she was tragically diagnosed with colon cancer - late stages.  After a month of developing a plan and having the plan drastically change multiple times due to information they uncovered about the location of the tumor as well as other organs and lymph nodes affected, she starts her 4 months of intensive chemotherapy tomorrow.  I've known nothing of her other than love, compassion, kindness and strength and seeing her fearful and in this vulnerable state is heartbreaking.
