Grafting in the garden

What a lovely morning..........we walked into town for a few bits and pieces , stopped off for a coffee, then ambled back, chatted to one of our neighbours before having a cuppa sat in the garden.

We are trying to be good food wise....we put 2lb each on whilst on our cruise, but that's off again now, but as we go away, again in 3 weeks we want to shed a few more pounds beforehand. Hub had ham and tomatoes sandwiches for his lunch, I had a ham salad, really enjoyed it too!

Then we changed into our gardening clothes......I finished off the window boxes, and half dozen other planters that sit around the pond. We did some weeding and general tidying.
I tied in our jackmanni clematis as it's going mad at the moment in these perfect growing conditions! Also cleaned the pond out of duckweed and other grotty stuff.....we've got lots of newts in our pond and each time I used my little net to,fish out some debris, I managed to get a newt in there too, so had to free them up and put them back into the water :-)

Hub cleaned the car inside and out whilst I was doing the planting. I also planted in a variegated pale blue polonium and two heliotropes in front of our delphiniums. They should look good together hopefully!

It was 6pm when we finally called it quits.......Im always amazed as to where the time goes when I'm in the garden!
I made a quick chicken tikka masala curry for dinner with brown and white basmati rice, with some sultanas in it too ;-)

I've made a list for Wednesday when I meet up with sis and mum, as I need another dozen plants just to finish things off!!!

I snapped this shot of the garden earlier today as Its looking quite nice after all our hard work since we got home from our cruise. I did forget to move my little black pot and net that I'd used to clean the pond in the foreground, oops!!!

Supposed to be another lovely day tomorrow, fingers crossed :-)
