False step?
I had all sorts of ideas for today’s MonoMonday (Numbers) and actually went along the canal to find the sluices and their water height markers. However, in the end I preferred this shot of St Catherine’s Hill, its base rising from the tow path.
I once saw a woman here with three dogs. She left her 2 oldies sitting looking down from the ramparts near the top (yes, it’s another Iron Age hillfort, there are so many round here) and proceeded to run up and down 4 times with her young dog. I was open-mouthed with admiration, though I guess some of you runners will think nothing of that!
The hill is managed by the Wildlife Trust, who built these wonderful steps where the hill was becoming eroded. I looked on their website, but they’re rather coy about exactly how many there are. ‘More than one hundred’, they say. I’d say more than two hundred. A little later in the summer when I’m fitter I’ll let you know.
And there I was, walking back assuming the numbers theme would be carried by the amount of steps built to get you to the top. (Or the number of hawthorn flowers, or blades of grass perhaps? What was I thinking?) Looking at the entries, I see that virtually everyone has actually blipped numbers, so although I’m tagging this and thanking Nickimags888 - sorry, I've realised that should be Beckett, thanks Beckett - very much for hosting, I fear I don’t really qualify this week. Shame!
Early evening had a good relaxed blipmeet with Lozarithm at The Roebuck – thank you, L.
And to the rest of you, have a very good evening xx
