Time To Be Blipped

I've been looking at this sign for years now.
It's between two platforms at the Kaiserslautern train station and says "Crossing of the tracks is prohibited". To get down to the tracks it would require a major jump from the platform (and I would most likely brake a leg).

Between the fairly new platforms it looks like a relict of older railroad times, and more than likely it is exactly that. I wonder why it was left there, but of course it doesn't hurt anybody and it's still prohibited to cross the tracks.

The roller coaster weather continues; I'm sitting here with a hot water bottle - yesterday morning I was out cycling in a shirt and shorts.
