A Duke day
I met up with my old friend Ched George this morning to discuss management for the wonderful, rare Duke of Burgundy butterfly. We visited the central Chilterns site where he has been instrumental in safeguarding this tricky species. Despite a less than hopeful weather forecast we managed to see over 25 individuals on the wing, a very good count for the site. We also saw plenty of Dingy Skippers, Green Hairstreaks, Small Coppers and Small Blues - my kind of day!
