Welcombe Hills
Our elder grandson was poorly today, so his Mum and Dad took him to see the doctor therefore we missed our Skype session. We didn't have one last weekend either as they were having a birthday party for both the boys. Fingers crossed for next weekend. Poor little soul has been diagnosed as having a virus and can't go to school for a few days. I don't think he'll be very pleased about that as they are concentrating on learning Chinese characters at the moment, and it's very easy to drop behind. They get lots of homework to do too.
Having no Skype session and with rain forecast for the afternoon, we decided to go to Stratford late morning for a walk in the Welcombe Hills, my childhood stomping ground.
This is the obelisk at the Welcombe, and is the highest point in Stratford. Welcombe was once part of the chief manor of Old Stratford and in Shakespeare’s time the Combes family had a considerable estate here. The obelisk is a local landmark and can be seen for miles. It was erected in honour of Mark Philips (Manchester's first MP) who purchased Welcombe Manor, which is now the Welcombe Hotel.
This is my first ever attempt at merging three photos to produce a panorama. I've previously done a couple of panoramas with my camera, but never tried it post processing before.
