Life from city to village

Orange-Tip

Ok - so I am really really chuffed to have been able to take a photo of a butterfly. But yes, this is really really common in April to June, apparently.

It is known colloquially as an Orange Tip - which is a highly appropriate name in my view.... Latin name is anthocharis cardamines.  It likes hedgerows, Cuckooflower and mustard seeds. But... its not the sweet and innocent little thing you might assume. Apparently this particular butterfly will cannibalise others of its own species...

I'm still doing creative challenges for A Year with my Camera - this one is part of narrowing choice. I'm only using the 100mm macro lens today. But it does enable me to get shots like this.
