Airlift, Malham

Working in Malham today helping the Yorkshire Dales Rangers repair a footpath. The helicopter was hired to drop the aggregate, then we shoveled and raked before the next drop. Looking at the helicopter on the ground you do wonder how they fly. Photographing it in flight was quite a difficult exercise, particularly because I wanted to blur the rotor blades for effect. Against the sky evaluative metering didn't work at all. I changed to spot metering which was better but the shot was still over exposed. I changed to manual, exposed for the grass and this is the result. The fell is still underexposed but this is the best result of a lot of shots. I also had to do my fair share of the work so the camera went into the bag!
