Deep dark secret
Well, not really. But the Rower and I have gone sugar-free. And as an auxiliary of that, mostly gluten free as well. We no longer eat any highly refined wheat products, no potatoes, no rice, no pasta. And it's really not as hard as it sounds. We include massive amounts of vegetables, beans, chickpeas, lentils and pulses in the diet, and get most of our carbs that way. Cauliflower mash may sound a bit strange, but it's delicious, as is celeriac mash.
And between us we have lost a LOT of weight.
Frankly we were waddling when we came back from that cruise over Christmas, and we knew we had to do something about it. Quite by chance, I bought Michael Moseley's book on sugar free diet at Easter, and we've been following the guidelines pretty much ever since.
We have also discovered the Hemsley Sisters on Foxtel on the food channel. They have no refined sweetening products, grains or high GI food in their recipes either.
To cut a long story short, this is my sugar free, gluten free, Banana Cake - and we love it.
PS We still indulge in our morning oats!
