Richmond Parish Workhouse

Came across this magnificent building purely by chance today.
I was there to survey the roof and just as I was leaving I noticed a plaque and went back to see what it said.
Using my knowledge of Roman Numerals (or google - you decide) I was able to see that this building was opened in 1786.
Further investigation led me to find out that as well as a workhouse, this building was used to house 'lunatics and disorderly persons'!!

Times have now changed - these are now luxury apartments in a gated community
