The Stormy North
The forecast was pretty nasty for the north and we certainly saw plenty of it today as we continued on our "Roadie". We had lots of squalls, wind, heavy rain and sun. This was taken at South Head overlooking the entrance to the Hokianga Harbour. We could see the squall coming in so Aidan and I ran (didn't realise I had it in me!) to the lookout to get some photos, just got back to the car before the rain arrived. The extra is of Tane Mahuta, the largest kauri tree believed to be standing today. It measures over17 m around it's girth and is 51m high. Very hard to show the size of it. Once again we manage to walk into the forest to see it in the dry and just got back to the car when the rain arrived.
We are in the Bay of Islands tonight staying at Paihia, tomorrow we will visit Waitangi before heading back home. A good but busy few days.
Once again, many thanks for your comments and stars.
