Hawk moth season

Moth trapping this year has been really odd, I have caught some really nice moths, but really only in dribs and drabs never catching more than one or two moths per night. 
Last night I caught a Poplar hawk moth, this Eyed hawk moth, 2 may bugs and a Bright line brown eye moth ........ how odd is that! I would usually expect to be catching about 20 moths a night by now......I hope this season gets better soon!
Anyway this Eyed hawkmoth Smerinthus ocellatus, was a really lovely catch as it is an incredibly beautiful moth, fairly well distributed through the UK and a very welcome visitor to my garden.
