Wou Nishiki

New leaves on Acer palmatum Wou Nishiki. They will gradually turn green before flaming up in autumn.

Too long contained in a pot, it was released last year. These new leaves spring from new shoots, the first since it was planted out, a sure sign that the roots are finally getting down .... thanks in part to the wet summer! Just 18 inches high now, it can slowly make a small tree up to 15 feet.
