Bridle Path

Hump day required a blow out so took to the hills for a walk.

The historic Bridle Path walkway was originally constructed in 1850. It was the foot route across the Port Hills for Canterbury's first European settlers travelling between Lyttelton and Christchurch and there are a number of memorial seats for the pioneers and the first four ships on the walkway.  There is a distinctive hexagonal stone shelter by the road that commemorates the pioneer women of Canterbury although this is still fenced off due to the Earthquakes.

The extra (sneaky) photo was taken by a good friend that I walk with often and is of the view to the south looking over the harbour.
One of the rear moments that I am in front of the lens.
