Symphony Hall
A crazy but fabulous day today!! Today we went to our third of the CBSO family concerts. We didn't have to massively rush, but we headed out promptly around 9. A friend picked us up and took us into the city to get our first of our trains to Birmingham. It was a 4.5 hour journey, but it went pretty smoothly over all. We arrived in time to walk without panic with our lovely friend Sarah to Symphony Hall. We did the pre-concert craft (making a viking boat, it was fun!) before we went and settled in our seats. We had really good seats, and for a change all three of us sat in one place. We were right in front of the first violins, which is perfect as our friend was in ideal sight for us. Except that Katie nor I could spot her at first. Because it turned out she was wearing crazy sunglasses and a sunhat (the concert was Holiday themed!). When finally Katie saw her, she was very excited.
The concert as always was fabulous. The CBSO Children's Chorus joined them, though Katie wasn't that impressed with the pieces they sang. There were some fantastic pieces in the orchestra's programme though. She loved a piece entitled Storm, her face by the end was just brilliant.
After the concert, we met Amanda for a coffee. Katie went a bit nuts. Well, a lot nuts. She was running laps and cartwheeling (in appropriate places and appropriate spaces, not being naughty). She just needed to epically expend some energy.
We said goodbye to A and went to get a picnic. Katie and Sarah seemed to have a glorious time playing boo from behind a tree as I shopped. We ate in the station before getting on our train. The first one was boiling hot, with no aircon which kind of scuppered the plan where Katie was going to go straight to sleep. At the half way change, we got a quick bag of fries to snack on and she did then go straight to sleep on the next one. And stayed asleep as I carried her off the train, into our friend's car, into her own bed!
