There's always one
When attempting to photograph both Coot parents and their 4 chicks, always at least one of them was either looking the wrong way, or was too far away from the rest to get all of them in the same shot, or was either completely or partially hidden by something or one of the other family members. If you didn't know any better, you would think they did it on purpose. In this particular shot, the second parent is missing because it had just gone to look for more food.
