Moss or Lichen? (How do you tell the difference?)

Out walking in the forest looking for a Tiny Tuesday I came across this moss, or is it lichen?
It was growing in a damp spot on the forest floor and I loved the uniformity of the “flowers”.  Each “bloom” is about 5 mm across and the long thin brown objects are pine needles nestled in the moss/lichen.
It’s one of the most common environments in the Swedish forest, around here anyway, but it’s the first time I’ve really looked closely at the details.  Thanks for the encouragement Blip!  And thanks to Becket for hosting tt51 and tt52.
