Capturing my Journey

Cal

I asked husband to take a photo of me working with Cal and his owner today. His owner is a friend of a friends husband and has his own farm on the mainland and this is his youngest dog at 1 year old and he is having some problems with him and somehow my name must have been mentioned. He said he has trained his own dogs before but with not always with the best results and wanted to do right by this one. A very interesting few hours with them and here you can see him lying down and staying while we chat strategy. He has a lot of homework to get on with before he comes back with Cal for another session. Mainly to build bond and trust with the dog and have him listening and responding to his commands especially the "that'll do" which is always the hardest to teach with a young dog. This boys recall had got so bad that he is permanently on a long line when out of his kennel otherwise he goes off to find his own sheep to play with and wont come back!

The afternoon I spent recovering from all the concentration. So strange it raining today and having to find my waterproofs again. Good for the ground though!

11c rain from 10am.
