Coucy-le-Château

A wonderful day. Sky full blue, no cloud to see and of course a bright sun. Average temperature of 26°C!

Today we made a trip to Coucy-le-Château. 'Coucy' started as a modest castle built in 920 by the arch-bishop of Reims to protect his territory. The castle was extended from 1079 onwards under the dynasty of the Lords of Coucy. The town was released from the feudal power of the lords in 1197. From the 13th century onwards it was protected by its enclosure and the Laon, Chauny and Soissons gates.

You can walk around the town along a path close to the walls. Which we did. On the picture you see a part of the towns enclosure under the bright blue sky and in the background on the left the tower of the Mairie (town hall) and on the right the tower of the church ... ;)
