Bakewell
Bakewell itself was a bit of a Bank Holiday-style nightmare in the sunshine, with coachloads of old ladies forming disorderly queues for the chip shops and Pudding emporia, but the walk we chose, up and over the hill behind the village and back through the Haddon Hall Estate and along the river, was thankfully much more sparsely populated, and beautiful to boot. Afterwards we hung around the Showground in a desultory fashion until our particular group of knackered DofE-ers arrived for their lift home...
