The Flying Scotsman in Fife.
First it was coming, . . . then it wasn't . . . then it was again.
This Blip was taken as it passed through a cutting between North Queensferry and Inverkeithing. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more condensed steam visible.
I was also a little disconcerted to see a vintage BR diesel engine (County of Essex) on the back end (see 'Extra'.). Was the Old Lady getting a helping hand?
I have been informed that in fact it was being pulled as a 90 ton generator to provide electric power to the carriages - and to be there as a back-up in the event of failure.
