Construction.....

I went to one of my favorite places today, a woodland ride bordered by ancient woodland and teeming with life, especially of the entomological variety!
There were several of these Hazel Leaf-roller weevils Apoderus coryli, on the fresh young hazel leaves, busy cutting them up to make the distinctive 'rolls' in which they lay their eggs. As you can see she has quite a lot of cutting still to do, but she will roll it as she goes along, using her back legs. These sweet little weevils are widespread in the south, and can be seen on warm sunny days on hazel bushes.
I have also included a shot of Yellow pimpernel Lysimachia nemorum, which is a pretty little wild flower related to creeping jenny that grows freely in the rides, adding a brilliant splash of bright yellow.
