Knapweed
Our evening walk in very warm sunshine [and shorts, how rare is that of an evening] produced a fine crop of finds. A young roe deer looking very red, a black pheasant looking like Road Runner, cob nuts, sloes and numerous wild flowers. Brambles were covered in wild bees and meadow browns. But this cheerful purple knapweed standing proud amid the dry ruins of last year's patch is my favourite. [Only because I wasn't quick enough to catch the deer, pheasant or butterflies ....]
