DIDN'T WE HAVE A LOVELY DAY.....

…..the day we went (back) to Boscombe - and it made us realise how much we have missed coming!

Our main reason for going down to Boscombe was to go to the opening of a much bigger café belonging to our friends, Andrew and Karen, and to meet up with them and their two lovely daughters.  We often visited the Little Pickle Deli Café when we came down to Boscombe but hadn’t seen our friends for over a year, so the opening of their new venture seemed an ideal opportunity to remedy that.  You can see them in the first photograph, with Reni, who made the wonderful cake and some fantastic scones and of course, there was plenty of other food and drink and lots of people there to wish them all the best in their new premises.

However, the opening wasn’t until 2 p.m. so we set off early and met up with our friend, Michael, who lives at Honeycombe Beach, parked the car and and went down to Urban Reef, a favourite beachside café, and had breakfast with him.  On the way down, we realised there was a race about to start, so as much as I would like to think I took part, at least I can say I made the finish line!

Next is Mr. HCB and Michael, both sporting their Tilley hats and looking very dapper.  After breakfast, and a chat with several of the staff, who were pleased to see us, we went for a walk along the pier where I took the photograph of the words and music, which is part of the Boscombe Pier Music Trail.

A visit to Boscombe wouldn’t be complete without seeing the beach, the sea and the pier, and I sneaked this shot of a Jewish man concentrating on taking a photograph - not that unusual in Boscombe, as there is quite a large Jewish community.

All in all a wonderful day, marred only by the traffic jams we encountered on the way home - but we were home in time to allow Mr. HCB to watch Countryfile.  This week cricket starts again so I will be a cricket widow but I have no doubt I will find something to do or someone to meet.

“Just as the wave cannot exist for itself,
but is ever a part of
the heaving surface of the ocean,
so must I never live my life for itself,
but always in the experience
which is going on around me.”
Albert Schweitzer

P.S.  I even put up one of my Post-it Notes at Urban Reef - the first one for a little while - you can see this in my extras.
