A great man
This morning a friend came with me to visit Glendoick Gardens, between Perth and Dundee. Glendoick House was the home of Euan Cox - who was originally in the jute business in Dundee - and more recently his son Peter, the subject of my Blip. Peter has spent a large part of his life travelling abroad, mainly to India and China, collecting rhododendrons and associated plants and is certainly one of Scotland's, and possibly the world's, greatest authority on the genus.
He is a fount of knowledge on the subject and has written several authoritative books, but is also a very humble and modest man. We spent a couple of hours with him in the garden - a wonderful experience.
