Just a day

A friend last year gave me a salsify plant. It went in the allotment and I subsequently forgot about it. I was reminded this morning when I was trying to identify this flower. By the time I left in the afternoon it had completely closed. I have no idea about.how we should eat it, but it looked lovely today.
