A Trip Out

My mate in Pitlochry was going out this morning to take some pictures of his great niece in a bluebell wood and invited me to come along.
Due to him setting off early and us getting held up in roadworks he had almost finished.
When we arrived the baby was just finishing a feed, but before heading into the woods I snapped the field of daffs across the road.

The dappled light was playing ball and I managed to get some shots I was pleased with - like the swathes of bluebells and the magnificent beech tree. For some reason my 70-200mm lens started over exposing by about 3 stops - but not before I managed to get one isolated plant.
I have no idea what the problem is with the lens (and it is the lens - it was doing the same thing when fitted to my mates camera).

After finishing my picture taking SWMBO and I went up and had a coffee with my mate and his wife.
He is registered disabled and his wife is the bread winner, being the warden in the youth hostel ........... but only for 10 weeks. Then she is jacking it in and taking early retirement.
They are both itching to move on and get away from the hostel.
The first thing they are doing is going on another cruise and he has borrowed my 70-300mm lens for it. Last year he borrowed my small camera!
However, he has given me an 85mm f1.4 lens for the trouble and we swapped 50mm f1,8's.
The reason for this is both the lenses are manual focus  which he can no longer manage with his arthritis and the 50mm being a pancake type (requiring some finger dexterity) and the 85mm having a very tight focusing ring,

Getting old and infirm is a bitch.
