Fly, fly away

I was excited to see a great blue heron this morning. I checked the settings on my camera, snapped off a couple of shots of him standing in the river, then he flew away...out of reach of my camera. Not ready to give up, I walked along the river until I found him again, but he flew away a second time. This time I got him in flight. I think he looks almost prehistoric. Look large to get a sense of his size.

Today's extras are of the nursery Mrs. Blue-gray Gnatcatcher has prepared for her brood. She has  "feathered her nest, and now she is sitting on it. Hopefully I will get some pictures of the little ones some day soon.
