Memorial for a horse

In Morkery Wood there stands this monument in memory of a horse called "Black Butcher". A member of the 18th Century local aristocracy was out hunting on his favourite horse, when his mount suddenly dropped dead beneath him. General Henry Grosvenor erected this memorial on the spot where Black Butcher died. There is an inscription on the back, but it's completely eroded by the weather
I found some wild garlic growing in the wood ( see extra) Somehow, a small quantity found its way into my pocket! It seemed rude not to add it to my dinner this evening - and jolly good it was too!
