A Cat in the Gardens
Sometimes a cat just needs to sit in the tall grass and chill. . . .
The gardens at the Arboretum are springing up with new life, and I find myself visiting there as much as possible. The fantastic tulip show is wrapping up, but there is still so much to see.
I was kneeling down in the pollinator gardens taking macros of pasque flowers, which is a thing I love to do, when a gray shape bounded out of the grasses behind me. It was Scout, the Arboretum cat!
Scout doesn't actually officially live in the gardens; he's somebody's cat from the houses nearby, but he likes to visit the gardens a lot. And so do I. And guess what: I really LOVE having a cat in the gardens!
He chop-slammed me a while, and then he rolled on the ground, and I petted him. He clearly wanted MORE pets and skritches. He is a very friendly cat! Then he rubbed against me some more (no, this is NOT my cat).
In the main photo, Scout is just sitting and chilling in the tall green grass. I think he was feeling rather philosophical at this point, but about what, I'm not sure. What do cats think about when they stare into space?
The extra photo shows Scout giving me a tour of the pollinator gardens. In the photo, he is walking ahead of me, but has stopped and sat down. The look on his face seems to say, "Are you coming?" And of course, follow I did. :-) Who could resist?
The song for this photo is a gift from a friend who introduced me to it. Yes, I love to learn about new music! Thank you, friend. Here is Laura Mvula, with Green Garden.
