Sculptures in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough
All around Stewart Park in Middlesbrough there are various wooden carvings. These are inspired by the life of the explorer Captain James Cook who was born Marton which is a suburb of Middlesbrough.
These ones are on the banks of the lower lake. Unfortunately I can't find out any information on these particular ones, so I have no idea why the characters in the background are hiding their faces.
The park underwent a period of restoration around 4 years ago when they were created from timber salvaged from the park itself.
